Dolby CP650
Digital Cinema Processor
PDF File
The Dolby® CP650 Digital
Cinema Processor is the exhibition industry's preferred cinema processor
worldwide. Continuing the long evolution of Dolby cinema sound, it is the
only all-digital cinema processor for the playback of all Dolby soundtrack
formats, combining advanced signal-processing technology, highest-quality
components, and sophisticated manufacturing processes to provide the best
sound and utmost reliability.
Thanks to built-in features such as
Dolby Digital Surround EX™ decoding and four AES-3 digital inputs, the
Dolby CP650 Digital Cinema Processor is the most cost-effective Dolby
processor. Excellent reproduction of analog soundtracks is facilitated by
fully digital implementations of Dolby A-type and Dolby SR decoding.
Addressing the future of exhibition, the
Dolby CP650 has an expansion slot that provides a convenient upgrade path
to new develop-ments, such as multichannel audio decoding for digital
cinema. Upgradable software also helps to ensure the CP650's role in the
future, while a built-in Ethernet interface opens up a new world of remote
control and monitoring applications.
External setup software (available in
several languages) facilitates calibration, trouble-shooting, software
upgrades, and transferring settings via a personal computer. Connection
ports are conveniently located behind a front-panel access door.
The Dolby CP650 features a built-in
real-time analyzer and EQ Assist™ system that enable quick theatre
equalization. These features, combined with Auditorium Assist™, provide
any theatre operator the necessary tools to keep their cinema operating
just the same as the first day it opened. An easy-to-read LCD screen and
simple front-panel format selection and control keys help simplify
operation of the CP650, as well as installation and service.
Designed to satisfy the needs of today's
multiplexes, the Dolby CP650 Digital Cinema Processor is also a bridge to
the entertainment complex of the future for exhibitors dedicated to
providing their audiences with the best motion picture presentation
possible, both today and tomorrow. |

Dolby CP45 Cinema
Processor
PDF File
Thanks to the compact,
cost-effective Dolby CP45 Cinema Processor, even the smallest of cinemas
on the tightest of budgets can install a Dolby sound processor. This means
that the audience can hear analog Dolby soundtracks as they were meant to
be heard, and you can use the widely recognized Dolby logo to promote your
commitment to a quality motion picture experience.
At the heart of the CP45 is
genuine Dolby processing for Dolby SR analog soundtracks, which are
standard on all 35 mm release prints today, including those that also have
digital tracks. With the CP45, any cinema can afford to play back Dolby SR
soundtracks with outstanding clarity and fidelity. Dolby A-type noise
reduction is also included for older prints.
The cost-effectiveness of
the CP45 results in part from the use of integrated circuits developed in
response to the wide demand for Dolby technologies. It also benefits from
a simplified power-supply design, and a new approach to speaker EQ that
features seven bands for each screen channel, plus tunable high- and
low-frequency shelving controls. Selectable electronic crossovers for
biamplifying the screen channels are also built in.
With the addition of the
Dolby DA20 Digital Film Sound Processor, the CP45 can be used to play back
Dolby Digital soundtracks. However, cinemas intending to equip for Dolby
Digital within a foreseeable timeframe should start with the more flexible
Dolby CP650SR processor, which can be upgraded to Dolby Digital and Dolby
Digital Surround EX simply by adding an upgrade kit.
As with all Dolby sound
processors, the purchase of a CP45 includes the unrivaled support of Dolby
Laboratories. Hundreds of technicians worldwide have been trained by Dolby
engineers in the installation and maintenance of Dolby equipment.
Emergency technical assistance is available on call, as is backup from the
most experienced distributor network in the industry. The CP45 is the only
cinema processor in its price range backed by a decades-long history of
making films sound better.

Dolby CP-65 Stereo Cinema
Processor
PDF
File
The Model CP65 is the fourth generation in the series of Dolby cinema processors that reaches back to the introduction of Dolby Stereo itself. In a familiar,
easy-to-operate format, it provides a unique combination of flexibility, high performance, and cost-effectiveness.
Two channels of Dolby SR are incorporated within the CP65 to take advantage of the higher quality soundtracks on Dolby Stereo SR prints without the cost and complexity of an external adapter. Dolby A-type noise reduction is provided in addition for conventional Dolby Stereo playback, so that the CP65 is
equipped as standard to play all current 35 mm analog optical formats.

Dolby Cat. No.
702
Digital Soundhead
PDF
File
The Dolby® Cat. No. 702
Digital Soundhead is a penthouse-type reader that bolts directly to many
current and older projectors, enabling playback of Dolby Digital and Dolby
Digital Surround EX™ soundtracks.
Designed for high performance and
long-term durability, the Cat. No. 702 is a reference standard for Dolby
Digital soundtrack reproduction. To read the Dolby Digital track on 35 mm
Dolby Digital release prints, the Cat. No. 702 uses a newly designed, more
efficient CCD board and lens, an LED level indicator and adjustment, an
integral power supply that requires no AC connection, and the latest in
LED technology. The resulting signal is fed to the cinema's Dolby Digital
processor or decoder.
To ensure smooth film motion, the Cat.
No. 702 features an easily threaded Davis tight loop configuration with
twin tension arms for superior film guidance.
With benefits that include high sound
quality, on-film soundtrack placement, and ease of print manufacture,
Dolby Digital is the standard for multichannel sound around the world. The
Cat. No. 702 soundhead facilitates upgrading cinema systems to take full
advantage of Dolby Digital, including Dolby Digital Surround EX with its
third, rear surround channel.

Dolby SA10 Surround Adapter
PDF
File
The Dolby SA10 adapter upgrades any
existing 5.1-channel digital cinema sound system to play back the three
surround channels on digital prints prepared using the Dolby Digital
Surround EX process.
With Dolby Digital Surround EX, a center
surround channel is reproduced by the speaker array at the back of the
theatre, while left and right surround is reproduced by the side arrays
(see illustration). This configuration enables true 360-degree pans, more
realistic front-to-back and back-to-front transitions, and ambient sound
reproduction that is less affected by the width of the cinema.
In most cases, equipping an existing
5.1-channel digital installation for Dolby Digital Surround EX is simple
and economical. All it usually requires is wiring the surround speakers
into left, left back, right back, and right groups; providing additional
surround amplification; and installing the SA10 in the booth between the
existing cinema sound processor and the power amplifiers. Dolby Digital
Surround EX playback may be selected manually by the projectionist, or
automatically by means of a digital data flag that film producers can
incorporate into the soundtracks of Dolby Digital Surround EX releases.
For each of the three surround channels,
the SA10 provides seven-band equalizers operating in conjunction with
tunable high- and low-frequency shelves to ensure smooth surround-speaker
response to the international standard curve. Front-panel controls include
a mode selector (5.1 or Dolby Digital Surround EX), signal-present channel
indicators, and a backup power supply selector. Rear-panel connections
make it possible to select the Dolby Digital Surround EX mode remotely
with automation systems.
